USS Yorktown Campout 2008

We had a campout on the famous USS Yorktown. The boys had a great time running around and working on the Aviation and Oceanography Merit Badges. Here are some pictures.

Tyler on the Anti-Aircraft gun. Looks like a future sailor to me, hat and all. Andrew N. is on the right, with Br. Warren on the left.

John, Adam, Andrew, and Tyler relaxing.

On the flight deck listening to the pilot explain how the plane works and where the components are.

Other troops were present along with some Cub Scouts too.

On the way home.

Sam and Robby... Livin' the Good Life (as Sam's shirt says)

Br. Lee took a picture of himself by the entry way to the sleeping quarters.

Here they are. Our troop actually had that room in the far back left corner.

Here is out bunking/sleeping area. It was Air Conditioned!!

Lunch time.

Lunch time.

And of course, whenever Br. Lee is present, it rains. USS Yorktown was no exception. Luckily we were indoors.

Oceanography merit badge session. They looked at sea water under the microscope and saw all the living bugs and junk present. That's what we swim in at the beach...

Heading down for dinner.

Going up to the entrance of the USS Yorktown (sorry the order of pictures aren't in chronological order)

Water collection sample for the Oceanography merit badge. The counselor spoke a lot about the different "things" in sea water and the food chain.
The USS Yorktown upon departure.

Andrew and Tyler. Either they are really short, or that is just one big bullet.

Dinner! It was pretty good stuff.

Have a Fine Navy Day!
